Why Are We Selling it?
As artists, we are always challenging ourselves to create. Part of the journey is letting these creations take on a life of their own. After working out the kinks and streamlining the process of operation, we are ready to pass the torch. Our camp has built two previous art cars for ourselves, The Prodigal Swan, and the Heavy Meta dragon, and several mutant vehicles for other camps. The lesson of Burning Man is that everything is ephemeral — even metal art. After bringing the Metaphoenix to Black Rock City three times, we have decided something new is in our future.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much propane does the Metaphoenix consume?
A: The Metaphoenix uses approximately 100 gallons (~400 lbs.) of propane for every 5 hours of operation.
Q: How many people does the car take to operate?
A: At Burning Man, we generally have 1 driver, 2 walkers, 2 fire safety people (one up top, one below) and a bouncer (to make sure people do not jump on the car while in motion.)
Q: How long does it take to assemble?
A: The assembly takes 6 people about 4 hours, although we have improved the process several times.
Q: Do you have a “dream upgrades list?”
A: We sure do! We would love to find a new owner who is enthusiastic about continuing to improve the car, and we would be delighted to continue to working on it from time to time.
Q: Where is the car currently based?
A: The Metaphoenix shop is in Las Vegas, and we are able to continue storing it, repairing it, and upgrading it here, if requested.
Q: Can I make money renting out an art car?
A: Yes. Music festivals, municipal events, and art exhibits do pay rental fees to art cars. Our previous car, Heavy Meta, toured to 40 events in 3 years.
Q: How can I make an offer?
